On May 22 2009 Peter King set off from Land’s End to ride over 850 miles to John O’Groats. He arrived at every nightstop in warm sunshine. Peter had no support vehicles and travelled to the start in Land’s End and home from John O’Groats by public transport.
In doing so he fulfilled a promise made five years ago to Professor Roger Kirby – who removed Peter’s cancerous prostate and gave Peter a new lease of life – that he would undertake a serious fundraising cycling challenge.
In early June, Peter completed the 897 mile course and raised £14,000, with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong donating £700.
Every penny raised will go towards our charitable work as the logistical elements of the trip were funded by Peter and his commercial supporters.
