UPDATE - Issue 40 - Spring 2010

Research, training and support not taken for granted

Following the meeting of the Board of Trustees, the research, training and support grants for 2010 have now been awarded and we are pleased to announce it has been a very good year. As reported in the previous issue of Update, despite a challenging financial climate, grants have been sustained. 11 grants worth a total of £516,000 have been awarded to research projects including the improvement of statistical tools to aid decision making in prostate cancer management and investigating potential prognostic markers. 17 training and support grants worth a total of £97,000 were also awarded. We were recently invited to Hammersmith Hospital to see how the grants are put into practice in the laboratories and to get an understanding of how the research process works.
